Product Description:

The encapsulation of downhole components such as Hydraulic Control Lines, Single Line Encapsulation, Dual-Line Encapsulation (FLATPACK), Triple-Line Encapsulation (FLATPACK) has become prevalent in downhole applications. The overlaying of plastic provides several benefits that help to ensure a successful completion.

Encapsulation provides a protective layer to keep the lines from being scratched, dented, and possibly crushed while running in hole. Encapsulation of several components (Flat Pack) provides a consolidation that will help reduce equipment and personnel that is needed to deploy multiple single components. In many cases, a flat pack is mandatory as rig space can be limited.

Encapsulation can keep metal from coming into contact with metal, thus keeping protective properties intact for the component. Additionally, encapsulation can also provide protection to underlying components while in hole such as a lines that can be across a sand face or possibly in contact with a high rate of gas.

Furthermore, with the advancements in welding technology, hydraulic control lines no longer need to be welded with the orbital method. Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding machines and laser beam welding machines, in conjunction with cold-drawing machines, are used to produce lines with OD sizes of 1/8” – 1” and Wall Thicknesses of 0.028” -0.095” with common alloys formed of 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Incoloy 825, and Inconel 625.

 

Features:

To optimize the protection of downhole line, crush resistance needs to be strengthened during installation. Moreover, it's a must to protect control line against abrasion and pinching. And, it's also essential to eliminate the long term stress corrosion failure of control line. What's more, we should better the clamping profile. Moreover, single or multiple encapsulation can be adopted for ease of running and added protection.
