Meilong Tube's downhole control lines are primarily used as communication conduits for hydraulically operated downhole devices in oil, gas, and water-injection wells, where durability and resistance to extreme harsh conditions are required. These lines are custom made to meet the requirements of the various applications and downhole components.
The encapsulated materials used are hydrolytically stable and are compatible with all typical well completion fluids, including high-pressure gas. The material selection is based on different factors, such as bottomhole temperature, hardness, tensile and tear strength, water absorption, gas permeability, oxidation, and abrasion and chemical resistance.
Control lines have been extensively tested, including crush testing and high-pressure autoclave well simulation. These experiments proved the increased loading under which encapsulated tubing can maintain its integrity, especially when wire-strand "bumper wires" are used.
TP316L is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with molybdenum and a low carbon content. It offers superior corrosion resistance, including against organic acids at high concentrations and moderate temperatures, inorganic acids like phosphoric and sulphuric acids at moderate concentrations and temperatures, salt solutions like sulphates, sulphides and sulphites, and caustic environments. However, it is important to note that austenitic steels do suffer from stress corrosion cracking and may be subject to such damage when exposed to tensile stresses and chlorides in environments above 60°C (140°F).
Additionally, the low carbon content of TP316L makes it capable of withstanding intergranular corrosion better than steels of type TP316, making it ideal for use in environments with high temperatures, corrosive fluids or gases, such as the production of sour gas or other sour well services in the oil industry.
Control lines come in exceptionally long lengths, without any welds, up to a whopping 40,000 ft (12,192 m) to ensure top quality and reliability.
Moreover, a variety of flat-packs and combinations thereof with bumper wire and downhole cables are also available to make deployment simpler.
Morever, both seamless and welded-and-plug-drawn production methods ensure a perfectly smooth and round tube to ensure long-term efficient metal sealing at the terminations.
Finally, encapsulation materials are tailored according to the well condition, maximizing longevity and performance of the product.
