Product Description:

Meilong Tube's Downhole Control Lines

Meilong Tube's downhole control lines are used primarily as communication conduits for hydraulically operated downhole devices in oil, gas, and water-injection wells, where durability and resistance to extreme harsh conditions are required. These lines can be custom configured for a variety of applications and downhole components. All encapsulated materials are hydrolytically stable and are compatible with all typical well completion fluids, including high-pressure gas. The material selection is based on various criteria, including bottomhole temperature, hardness, tensile and tear strength, water absorption and gas permeability, oxidation, and abrasion and chemical resistance. Control lines have undergone extensive development, including crush testing and high-pressure autoclave well simulation. Laboratory crush tests have demonstrated the increased loading under which encapsulated tubing can maintain functional integrity, particularly where wire-strand “bumper wires” are used.

TP316L

TP316L is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with molybdenum and a low carbon content.

Corrosion Resistance
  • Organic acids at high concentrations and moderate temperatures
  • Inorganic acids, e.g. phosphoric and sulphuric acids, at moderate concentrations and temperatures. The steel can also be used in sulphuric acid of concentrations above 90% at low temperature.
  • Salt solutions, e.g. sulphates, sulphides and sulphites
  • Caustic environments

Austenitic steels are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. This may occur at temperatures above about 60°C (140°F) if the steel is subjected to tensile stresses and at the same time comes into contact with certain solutions, particularly those containing chlorides. Such service conditions should therefore be avoided. Conditions when plants are shut down must also be considered, as the condensates which are then formed can develop conditions that lead to both stress corrosion cracking and pitting. TP316L has a low carbon content and therefore better resistance to intergranular corrosion than steels of type TP316.

 

Features:

Control lines, with no orbital welds, can reach up to 40,000 feet (12,192 m) to ensure reliability during operation. A wide range of packages are available, such as single, dual, or triple flat-packs, which can be coupled with downhole electrical cables and/or bumper wires for easier operation and handling. Moreover, the production method could be seamless or welded-and-plug-drawn. This method ensures a smooth and round tube which enables a metal sealing on the terminations and prolong the longevity for the parts. To ensure their reliability, the encapsulation materials are carefully selected based on the well conditions.
