Meilong Tube operates from a complex of buildings totaling 20,000 square meters, where they have designed and fabricated multiple tube mills to form and gas-tungsten arc and laser beam weld tubing from strips of stock. Sinking is a cold working process in which tubing is pulled through a lubricated die without an internal plug, where the tubing is welded at a larger outside diameter and sunk in multiple reduction and heat treatment operations. Alternatively, the tubing may be pulled through a lubricated die with an internal floating plug, to ensure the correct inside diameter of the tubing. Then, the tubing is treated to achieve specified mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in an off-mill furnace with a reducing atmosphere.
