The industrial tubing is formed and gas-tungsten arc and laser beam welded from strip stock on multiple tube mills designed and fabricated by the company.
In certain situations when manufacturing process limitations prevent welding the tubing of the desired size, it needs to be welded at a larger outside diameter and be sunk in multiple reduction / heat treatment operations. This procedure is called sinking operation and is a cold working process in which tubing is pulled through a lubricated die without an internal plug.
Floating-plug operation is another cold working process in which tubing is pulled through a lubricated die with an internal floating plug that regulates the inside diameter of the tubing.
The tubing is finally heat-treated to make sure it meets the specifications and obtains the desired resistance to corrosion, all in an off-mill furnace with a reducing atmosphere.
