Product Description:

Encapsulation of downhole components such as Hydraulic Control Lines, Single Line Encapsulation, Dual-Line Encapsulation (FLATPACK), and Triple-Line Encapsulation (FLATPACK) has become increasingly widespread in downhole applications. The wrapping of plastic provides a number of benefits that are beneficial for a successful completion.

Encapsulation forms a protective layer to prevent the lines from suffering damage from scratches, dents, and crushing during installation. Moreover, encapsulating several components (Flat Pack) reduces the amount of equipment and personnel that is required to deploy multiple single components. In many cases, flat pack is mandatory because of the limited space available on the rig.

Encapsulation is also advantageous as it avoids contact between different metals and shields underlying components such as lines that are exposed to sand or high gas levels. This limits the need for orbital welds, since completions are often longer than the typical yields of mill-produced coils.

At our company, we use Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding machines and laser beam welding machines to maintain a high-quality weld that is repeatable. Our equipment, combined with cold-drawing machines allow us to offer tubing products with an OD Size range of 1/8” - 1”, and Wall Thicknesses of 0.028” - 0.095”. We can provide tubing products from a range of materials, such as 316L, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Inconel 825, and Inconel 625.



The main objective of this project is to enhance downhole line protection, improve the crush resistance while it is being installed, and limit abrasion or pinching of the control line. Not only that, it aims to eliminate stress corrosion failure of the control line in the long run.

As for the clamping profile, it is also improved through this project. Besides, for better running and further protection, methods of single encapsulation or multiple encapsulation can be put into use.
